Dear Jerry,
When I first unpacked the solder/desolder station I was impressed with it's
weight and feel. I fired it up and
within a few seconds it was preheated and ready to go. I began
to solder and loved the feel of the solder pencil. The
heat is very adjustable and can be set to suit your needs.
I have enjoyed soldering this last week. It's nice to not have
the iron get so hot in your hand while soldering.
Then it was finally time to desolder. The pump sounds smooth and
has good power. At first I had a
hard time working with it because of the pump staying on the extra few
seconds, but after desoldering a few parts I got used to
it. I just had to retrain my technique. Now when I use
it I like that I can begin desoldering right away without
unclogging it first. After I am done I use the cleaning
stick and put it in the rest. So far it's always ready to go the next
time I need it. I would attribute that to the pause mode.
I have gone long periods of time between uses. I
just push the button and within seconds it reheats to selected temperature
and I am ready to go. After
one week of use I am very impressed. It's a very good unit at a very good
price!

P.S. By the way, there is one drawback. I am having to mop around my bench
more often to clean up the drool.
I ordered the
Xytronic 988TP. The product is fantastic and works great. I have been a long
time user of PACE stations and I have to say that the Xytronic is every bit as
good if not better than a comparable system be PACE for a third of the price.

Dear Mr. Howard;
I
recently attended the NESDA/NPSC convention in Reno, Nevada. Upon
visiting your booth, I was introduced to the XYTRONIC
REWORK STATION #988. I witnessed a demonstration of its
superb quality. I was amazed with the simplicity of the unit,
and its fine construction. Most of all...I was impressed with
the low cost of accessories! No longer do I have to pay $35
dollars for desoldering tips!
I
have to be truthful to you.. I was reluctant to purchase a
brand that I was not familiar with... But
because of you & Shane (your associate) I felt VERY
comfortable with my purchases.
Since
receiving the equipment... I don't know how we did without
them! The maintenance is so easy...tips don't
"freeze" or "clog" And we especially
like the "temporary shutdown" feature! The
vacuum indicator is a MAJOR plus. Because we can tell when
the tips are starting to clog!
The
tweeze tool is fantastic. I can pull SMD capacitors in
less than half the time!
The
"HOT-AIR" pencil allows me to drop SMD chips within seconds with
no damage to the foil patterns or surrounding components!
I
am grateful to you for taking this product aboard. You and
you staff are so pleasurable. I am looking forward to
meeting you all again. Thanks to you and your excellent
associates...

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I just wanted to thank you
for the excellent service in assisting us in finding the appropriate tool
for our situation, the quick shipping (and great packing job as well) and
the fine quality of the Xytronic 988.
It's been a real time saver in the shop, and the well designed ergonomics
make it a pleasure to operate. I'd unhesitatingly recommend both the 988 and
HEI to any other facility involved in electronic manufacturing or service.
It's rare in today's business environment to be treated so well by a
supplier, rather than being taken for granted as "just another customer". We
were treated like we were buying a hundred stations, not just one. So again,
