New Features of the JT-1A
The new JT-1A hot air station features a button on the handpiece to activate and deactivate the air flow.
This control system is a comfortable alternative to the red button located on the front side of the control unit, helping the operator to focus on the results of the rework process.
If the timer function is enabled, it can be also started/stopped by pressing this new button. Like the previous version JT-1A, the JT-1A is also compatible with an external pedal.
The handpiece has been re-styled and features an improved ergonomics

JBC JT-1A SMD Rework Station

Features of the JT-1A

The JT-1A is for desoldering all types of SMD’s particularly QFPs and PLCCs of any size.

The station uses a system based on protector-extractors and hot-air flow, which makes desoldering clean and quick, while protecting the other components by concentrating the heat onto the IC.

A medium-sized SMD, for example, can be desoldered in 20 seconds.

The station is completely self-contained and includes a vacuum pump for extracting the IC's during reflow.

When the IC is removed by this process, the IC leads are almost completely devoid of solder

FOLLOW THIS PROCESS INVERTED TO RE-CONNECT THE HEATER.
This step has to be performed when the heater is cold.
1. Un-tighten screw.
2. Separate the heating element from the heater’s cable.
3. Connect the new heating element, pushing it’s extreme.
4. Insert screw to avoid air-loss which could reduce the heating element’s lifetime.

Hi!
I've used JBC products for PC mainboard repair, a lot cheaper than others. Used it for QFP's and PLCC's. It costs US$ 2,390 with all accessories for the JT-1A (http://www.howardelectronics.com/jbc/jt7700.html) . I've evaluated other brands, they don't come close with ease of use. A medium sized QFP can be removed in 20 secs! Quick removal translates to less PCB/chip damage. Removing the SMT part is the easy part, profitability is another.
