As a member of NESDA (the National Electronics Service Dealers Association)
I became acquainted with Howard Electronic Instruments, Inc (HEI) through
their yearly participation and support of the NESDA Convention’s trade show.
To my ongoing amazement, the soldering/desoldering products available
through HEI always represent leading edge technology.
Having been in the consumer electronics repair industry for 38 years, I
have watched the industry go through countless changes. Being a part of that
industry, I have come to realize that I also must be open to purchase state
of the art equipment if I intend to survive as technology advances. For this
reason, I took a serious look at the JBC “Advanced” line of soldering
devices. Keeping in mind that I use soldering equipment in every item I
repair, I realize this is the most important piece of equipment in my
arsenal (and probably the most taken for granted one). Performing mobile
service, I have very specific needs of portability, quick setup, and diverse
tips for different tasks.
Although HEI offers many different soldering/desoldering devices, the JBC
DI3000 met my needs perfectly. Not only does it heat in two seconds, but
there are dozens of tips available that can be exchanged literally in
seconds (even when hot). One tip works easily to remove tuner shields &
rework RF posts, another is long and very thin to get deep into a shielded
module with ease, and another is wide - heating all the pins on the side of
an IC at the same time. There is even a tweezers hand device that
professionally removes chip components and surface mounted capacitors
without any board or component damage whatsoever!
My decision to purchase this remarkable product from HEI has literally
ended all of the stress and frustration I used to experience reworking
modern pc boards. I would highly recommend any serious repair professional
to contact Howard Electronic Instruments and see how your repair experiences
can be enhanced by this fine product line.
