Instructions for Removing and Replacing IC's

The simple CHIP QUIK SMD Removal Method
using a standard soldering iron.
In lieu of the CHIP QUIK free sample that we use to give, we now offer, to first time buyers, (in quantities of one only) the SMD1 Chip Quik for 50% off. 

Instructions for using CHIP QUIK Removal of large IC's with soldering iron only.
	1.	Apply Chip Quik flux to all leads of SMD with syringe or flux applicator.
	2.	Melt Chip Quik low temperature alloy uniformly on all pins of component with your soldering iron. Maintain alloy in molten state long enough for complete reflow and removal of component.
	3.	Lift chip from board with dental pick or Vacuum pick.
	4.	Thoroughly clean site with cotton swab dipped in flux while applying heat. Clean site thoroughly with alcohol pad to remove flux.

SMD REMOVAL
[with soldering iron]

• Apply flux to all leads with supplied syringe.
• Melt CHIP QUIK uniformly on all pins.
• Maintain alloy in molten state long enough to release chip.
• Lift chip from board with dental pick or Vacuum pick.

CLEAN UP

• While molten, use cotton swab and flux to move excess to an unused section of board (Usually the middle of wheR the component was).
• While applying heat, polish each pad with a swab and flux until thoroughly clean.
• At room temperature clean residue with alcohol pad.
• You are now ready to install the new chip.
• Solder new chip in with soldering iron and special tip. The following tips and respective soldering stations are designed for this purpose:

Replacing IC with Soldering Iron, Flux, and Special Tip or Cartridge
Tack solder two opposite corners of the component being careful to have exact placement of the IC.	Flux the IC pads and leads with flux. I recommend a good gel flux such as SMD291 No-Clean Gel Flux in a 10CC Syringe.	Soldering the leads with the special tips for soldering SMDs. Simply let if float over the leads with no downward pressure in the leads.

Chip Quik SMD1 has 2.5 ft. of material which removes 1250 to 1500 SMD pins. or 8 to 12 components. For larger quantities, order SMD16 or SMD32.
